My Daily Notes is a Gospel reading, journaling and Rosary app. It is designed so that what you write stays on your own phone. This page explains what the app keeps, what it sends over the internet, and the choices you have. It is written with the Philippines’ Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173) in mind.
What the app keeps on your device
- The reflections you write.
- The mood you optionally check in each day.
- The Bible translation you choose and your reminder time.
- The Gospel readings downloaded for offline use.
- The time you agreed to the privacy notice.
Reflections may reveal religious beliefs, and a mood check-in relates to your wellbeing. The Data Privacy Act treats this kind of information as sensitive, which is why the app asks for your consent before it does anything else.
Where it stays
All of this is stored only in the app’s private database on your device. Nothing you write is sent to the developer or to any other party. The app has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools.
If you add the home-screen widget (iPhone or Android), the day’s Gospel reference and your mood check-in are shared with it on your device, so they appear on your home screen. Anyone who can see your screen can see them. Remove the widget, or use “Erase all my data” in the app, to clear them. A mood you tap on the widget is saved in the app (on Android straight away, on iPhone the next time the app runs).
What leaves your device
To download readings, the app contacts these services. Each request contains only a date or a Bible reference, never your reflections or mood. As with any internet request, these services can see your IP address.
| Service | Used for |
|---|---|
| Vatican News (vaticannews.va) | Which Gospel is read on a given date (the citation only). |
| helloAO (bible.helloao.org) | The scripture text of that reading. |
| bible-api.com | A backup source for scripture text if the first is unavailable. |
| YouVersion (api.youversion.com) | The scripture text of a reading, only if you choose the CPDV or Ang Biblia translation. The request contains the passage reference, the translation and the app’s access key. |
Each reading also has “Read in Magandang Balita Biblia” and “Read in NABRE” buttons. They open the passage on YouVersion or Bible Gateway in your browser or app, and those sites’ own privacy terms apply there. The app itself sends them nothing.
Daily reminders are local notifications created on your phone. They do not involve any server.
Why the app uses your information
Only to show the day’s Gospel, keep your reflections and mood check-ins, and send the reminder you turn on. It is not used for any other purpose and is not shared with anyone.
Your rights
You may access, correct, export and erase your data at any time, and you may withdraw your consent whenever you like. In the app:
- Access and correct: open the Journey tab, or any reading, to see and edit your reflections.
- Export: Profile, then “Export my reflections”, shares your reflections as plain text to wherever you choose.
- Delete one entry: use the delete button on that reflection in the Journey tab.
- Erase everything and withdraw consent: Profile, then “Erase all my data”. This removes all reflections, moods and downloaded readings and turns off your reminder.
You may also lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.
How long it is kept
Until you delete it or uninstall the app.
